Summer has finally arrived. Whether you’re planning on staying home or setting off on a beach getaway, here are some reading suggestions to keep you entertained all summer long:
Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors
Blue Sisters is Coco Mellors second novel, and it follows three estranged sisters who return to the family home after the death of their beloved fourth sister. The book deals with themes of grief, addiction, and what it takes to fall in love with life again. I read Mellors debut novel, Cleopatra and Frankenstein, last year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Blue Sisters is next on my reading list, and I look forward to seeing how this novel compares to her debut.

Butter by Asako Yuzuki
You must be living in an alternate universe if you haven’t heard of the book Butter, written by Aoako Yuzuki. This book has been all over my social media feed, and I am keen to get my hands on it this summer. This bestseller is about a female gourmet cook and serial killer and the journalist intent on cracking her case. It’s inspired by a real-life case and explores themes of body image, feminism, misogyny, and food culture in Japan.

How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang
How to End a Love Story is a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick. This book features the enemies-to-lovers trope, and anyone who knows me will know that I’m a sucker for a good enemies-to-lovers romance novel. Helen Zhang is the bestselling author who can’t write her own happy-ever-after. Grant Shepard is the screenwriter with the movie-star looks who can’t afford his therapist. The pair have a messy history and a chemistry that is undeniable.

The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradely
This book is a NY Times bestseller and poised to be the must-read of the summer. It follows a civil servant who is offered a lucrative job working for the government that is set on testing the limits of time travel. I finished this book a few days ago, and I found it to be a joy to read. A fun but thought-provoking slow-burn romance that’s difficult to put down once picked up.
